OUR TOP TIPS FOR MAKING A MEMORABLE HOLIDAY

TOP TIPS FOR

Making a Memorable Holiday

We can always find ways to celebrate the little things and the blessings of the season. Here are our top tips for spreading cheer, experiencing joy, and making memories this holiday.

DECORATE INSIDE AND OUT

This is the year to go overboard with decking out the outside of your home. Twinkle lights, garland, a poinsettia, and other holiday decor will add cheer to your home and neighborhood.

LOOK AT CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Once your home is decorated, take an evening stroll or car ride to see your neighborhood, town, or city lights. Bring a mug of cocoa and sing along to your favorite holiday songs!

SEND A LOVED ONE DINNER

MAKE A COMMEMORATIVE ORNAMENT

Mix a salt dough recipe (all you need is flour, salt, and water) and make a handprint or cookie-cutter ornament. Don't forget to carve your initials and the year!

THERE’S STILL TIME

WANT TO PUT TOGETHER A HOLIDAY PARTY?

Give back to your community

There is no better gift than charitable giving and volunteering. Donate money or give your time to a cause you care about. Do you have old books, toys, clothes, or furniture that you no longer need? Give unwanted items to a shelter or The Salvation Army. You can even schedule a pick up.

Create an activities advent calendar

Think of festive things you can do each day with members of your household. Make cookies, wear Santa hats, watch each person’s favorite holiday movie - get creative and have fun with it!

CELEBRATE OUTDOORS

Bring the festivities outside this year. Gather safely in your backyard, at a park, or an outdoor venue space (we’ve got just the one!). Make it cozy with a campfire, hot drinks, and throw blankets.

SMILE OR JOKE WITH A CASHIER

It’s easy to be frustrated by busy stores and long lines, but try to be kind to those on the other end of it. The next time you’re at the checkout line, engage in a little conversation, crack a joke, or simply flash a genuine smile.

MAIL A HANDWRITTEN NOTE

It’s rare to get something handwritten in the mail these days. Take a few moments to write a personal note in your holiday card or just send a handwritten letter to someone you miss.

TEACH YOUR KIDS THE MEANING AND SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

Help your kids grow up to be generous and thoughtful adults by taking the time to teach them the meaning of Christmas and impart the spirit of giving and goodwill.

START A NEW TRADITION

We might not be able to participate in all of our usual holiday traditions this year, but we can always start a new one! The options are limitless. For a little inspiration, check out this list of ideas.
