Meet Our Farmer: Christopher Richard Jelesky

 

Before joining our team in October 2021, Chris was the farm manager at Jean Farris, a James Beard Award-nominated winery and restaurant with a two-acre garden in Lexington, Kentucky.

He started working there while studying at the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture with a minor in Business. Chris moved to Tampa, Florida, in 2017 with his wife Christina and two daughters, Pilar and Penelope. Since then, they have welcomed their third daughter, Poppy, and their fourth daughter, Pia.

What are you most excited to work on at SB Farm? 

“Getting the chickens in their mobile coop and our piglets in their new pig pen.”

 
 
 
 

What do you plan to grow next? 

“We are currently working on sweet potatoes, watermelon, peanuts, and sorghum. Next season, we will plant patty pan squash, zucchini, leeks, Brussels sprouts, kalettes, green onions, broccolini, cauliflower, and flowers.” 

 
 
 
 

What have you grown so far at SB Farm? 

“Beets, carrots, radishes, lettuce, microgreens, pea shoots, tomatoes, and a mixture of herbs.”
